The best emerging international artists in 2025!

Writer's picture: BOOT - - - MUSICBOOT - - - MUSIC

Although we often focus on music from the North-West of the UK, one of our favourite things about running BOOT - - - MUSIC is being able to discover new music from all over the world that we would have never have come across if it wasn't for our blog. Therefore, we've compiled a list of some of our favourite new international discoveries for you to enjoy....

Jupiter Flynn - Germany / The Netherlands

Gentle yet powerfully emphatic coming-of-age vocal work and a well-composed instrumental support which fuses elements of Bedroom Pop with Indie Rock formulate Jupiter Flynn’s new single ‘Blind’.

On this collab with German songwriter Nina Caroline, the young singer-songwriter refuses to shy away from showcasing the musical innards of their mind and soul. The track ebbs and flows between the light-hearted catharsis of Jupiter Flynn’s fragile lyricism and the in-your-face nature of their strong-willed backing vocals.

‘Blind’ serves as a musical exposé fronted by emotionally hard-hitting lyrical stints like “I’m numb and I’m on hold/I’m just a piece of me” performed in Jupiter Flynn’s signature forebearing tone. Articulate, wise and insightful, the track is likely to resonate with many - both musically and lyrically.

Reaching formidable crescendo to then bring a high-octane guitar breakdown to centre stage, the single encompasses every aspect you’d reach for in a passionately compelling tale of a failing romance.

Pillowprince - USA

Embracing the emphatically whimsical vocal and guitar work of the gloomy Shoegaze scene are brand new residents Pillowprince - an Oakland-based musical duo offering an intimate grandeur fused with a romantically charged mystical Gothic Rock tone.

Their debut single ‘Mercurial’ boasts a story of rejection, loss and longing fuelled by a resonating teenage angst in a style akin to that of The Cure’s earlier work. The track is propelled by a playful tonal lick courtesy of singer-guitarist Olivia Lee whose earnest lyrical stints drift throughout the ethereal soundscape. Together with Sea Snyder on drums, the band’s first release has cemented itself amongst the underground Indie scene as a freshly modern take on the traditional tropes of Shoegaze melancholy.

Fans of Wolf Alice and first-wavers like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine will appreciate the melodious ebb and flow between Indie Pop and ambient 80s Dream Rock that Pillowprince have to offer.

Von Edgren - Sweden

Swedish songwriter Von Edgren emerged last year with his debut trio of singles that immediately caught our attention. 'Hey Julia' is a delicate acoustic performance that draws you in with the intimacy and authenticity of the vocals. 'adhd bipolar' is then a track that draws on these intimate tones but builds slowly to a wonderfully expansive and absorbing finale full of soaring emotion. 'love me like you have aspergers' has a more cinematic, floaty feel with jaunty piano and synths ringing in the backdrop while the uplifting melodies sweep on by.

Now, Von Edgren has returned with a new release in 2025 'radioclock'. It is a bouncy Indie Pop track with a more obvious groove and melodic structure than his previous three. The vocals have a shimmering brightness, elevated by the sparkling synths. The vocal lines have a thick emotion behind them and, although they never fully explode in intensity, there's always a deep feeling packed within their delivery and the gritty guitar finale brings these feelings to the fore.

Ruston Taylor - Australia

Sydney based singer Ruston Taylor released his punchy new single ‘29’ early this month. With hints of both Rock and Alternative music he is able to create the perfect blend of bittersweet lyrics combined with an exciting guitar and drum backing. Taking hints from the likes of Sam Fender, Ruston remains to his authentic self on the track, something which shines through in the raw emotion of his sound.

In a playlist pinned to his Spotify, Ruston claims that the inspirations from '29' derive mainly from British Indie giants such as The Stone Roses, Blossoms and The Kooks. The overall sound of the single really does sound like a blend of all of these beloved artists, but with its own unique twist that only someone as special as Ruston can bring to a song.

KAPUT - USA

Chicago Post-Punk duo make music filled with texture. Each song fuzzes and fizzes with a mysterious tempting energy as they blend gritty synths with driving beats to create swirling grooves that you can get lost in.

This is no different on their latest single 'Sucker' which hooks you into a thick, rolling rhythm that is built up with layer upon layer of distorted sound. The vocals take a slightly spoken-word, Punky approach, filled with angst and oozing with swagger. The energy never once lets up, constantly spitting out electro Punk sounds with a venom. For our UK audience it may bring to mind artists like Lambrini Girls and BIG SPECIAL and we just can't get enough.

Hertzcasper - Germany

Angsty, direct and unstoppable, the new single ‘Gender Dich’ from Hertzcasper is a delicious burst of German Punk concocted in the depths of some sweaty basement venue.

The riff that opens proceedings immediately alters you to their harsh intentions. Then, the spoken word vocals arrive with a venom and unrest that you can feel regardless of your native tongue.

However, there is more to this track than initially meets the ears…as the chorus is truly infectious. Swapping out the gravely angst of the verse for a more refined, yet equally powerful, melodic chorus that is hard not to sing along to. By adding in this undeniably catchy chorus to an otherwise aggressive track shows both sides of the band wonderfully.

The electro breakdown later in the song hooks you in, luring you into a moody soundscape that builds and builds, gradually simmering to a boiling point ready to explode. One huge vocal scream later and you’re thrown back in the deep end for a final chorus.

It’s one of the most thrilling singles we’ve heard so far this year and we can’t wait to see what else is to come from them.

Consumables - USA

New York City’s Art-infused outfit Consumables pay homage to the musical inspirations of Brooklyn through an Indie Rock soundscape in their brand new single ‘Great Design’

It’s a jittery escapade with sharp edges, fusing digital synthesised sounds with a nuanced, philosophical lyrical outlook. ‘Great Design’ is an uncouth rebellion against traditional melodies, innovatively blending elements of Post-Punk and New Wave inspirations of the early 2000s.

The track is propulsive, punchy, and pummels you with pieces of rhythmic reflection laced with Post-Punk elements and an admiration for the likes of Julian Casablancas and Kele Okereke. Seeping through the track is an appreciation for those who planted the seeds for the dice-and-slice approach to angular vocal attacks and fragmented prog riffs.

Co-written by Bodega’s very own Ben Hoazie, the four-piece’s offering serves as a full-frontal introduction to Consumables’ cerebral style of commentary on contemporary life as explored in their debut album, 'Infinite Games'.
