Gearing up for the release of her third EP ‘Don’t Make Me Angry’ on October 10th, indie singer-songwriter Sophie Kilburn has released the second single from the EP after releasing the empowering single ‘Body On The Inside’ in February. Full of heart, ‘Still in the City’ deals with the idea of finding joy by reclaiming places that were once haunted by the memories of a previous relationship.
This feel-good healing anthem really showcases Sophie's powerful vocals. The upbeat rhythm, with the groovy guitar riffs and the call backs create a warm atmosphere that compliments the comfort and reassurance of the lyrics.
Throughout the song Sophie has a back and forth with herself, remembering the way things used to be, but the mantra of the chorus reminds her of her worth: “It was there before you came to me/ Just cos you left doesn’t mean I should leave/ so I’m still in the city”.
