In preparation for the release of their brand new album ‘Shine Away’ (Out October 4th), Indie hit makers Naked Giants have released three tasty singles to tease what is to come.
‘Apartment 3’ has a down to earth authenticity to it that makes the storytelling more endearing and acts as a great insight into the personality of the band. The raw Indie sound initially rings of The Strokes but the exhilarating instrumental section later on leans more into sounds of Nirvana. The more steady verses earlier in the track make this harsher moment really stand out. The vocal blends have a warming tone that brings all of this together beautifully.
‘Bad Guys Win’ has more of a nostalgic, playful Indie sound drawing you in close to the lead vocals that are spoken with a sunken-hearted disdain. The 90s Rock sound paired with these beaten-down, coming-of-age lyrics, rings of acts like Wheatus.
Most recently, ‘Did I Just Die’ completed their trio of releases and it is our favourite of the lot. The melancholic opening has an unfiltered Grunge intimacy before exploding into life, led by a soaring drum stabs. The verses then return you to an immersive, dream-like swell where you could be forgiven for wanting to stay. However, the raucous vocal calls, that dance right on the sonic biting point, rudely awaken your restbite, backed by huge crashing instrumentals. This track really shows the range that these guys can offer.
