Fast Money Music’s ‘Space Opera’ is a spellbinding infusion of sparkling Electronica and theatrical Jazz Rock. Co-written by Nick Hinman and Tony Hoffer, the track is the third single to be released from the forthcoming ‘ROUGE’ EP.
Championed by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, ‘Space Opera’ speaks to a romance of cosmic sized proportions. The thudding, synth-heavy verses elicit the heartache of a 1980s power ballad, exacerbated by the talents of saxophonist John Waugh.
Waugh’s angular instrumentation builds to a euphoric New-Wave chorus, layering keys and jagged guitar chords atop Hinman’s celestial crooning. Guest drummer George Daniel of The 1975 plays with blistering grandeur, providing a bullish sense of bravado.
Just shy of the four-minute mark, ‘Space Opera’ ends with a flourish, Hinman demanding: “You make me so starstruck baby, go and serenade me…”
In lieu of singles ‘Polar Bear’ and ‘Hot Melt Glue’, anticipation for Fast Money Music’s ‘ROUGE’ EP is reaching a frenzy. With ‘Space Opera’ being the latest of a trio of frenetic tracks, the full-length project is set for release on August 30th.
