After gaining praise from the likes of NME, CLASH and BBC 6 Music, Oxfordshire Post-Punk outfit Lacuna Common are now gearing up for their new EP 'Godspeed'. Their new singles 'Pool House' and 'Newspaper Ad', taken from this forthcoming EP is a fantastic showcase for why they have earned so much widespread support from fans and industry tastemakers alike.
'Pool House' has a really loose, slacker Rock energy that is full of a wonderfully nostalgic, youthful energy as if you can almost hear that the song was first conceived during summer sessions in garages or basement rehearsal spaces. A lovely blend of deep basslines and scratchy lead riffs builds up a gritty yet melodic wall of noise while the drums drive a moshy energy and the vocals command a reflective tone with their raw and unfiltered approach that reminds us of Eades.
Now, 'Newspaper Ad' has followed up with a slightly tighter and more direct sound that demands your attention from the very first moments. Hints of Sports Team flow through this track as the loud, Indie Rock energy clashes with thoughtful chord progressions and a down-to-earth vocal style that dips between conversational musings and harsh, passionate deliveries. You can just imagine groups of teenagers bouncing around a packed out sweaty venue to this one, forgetting all their stresses and revelling in the spirit of youth! So much fun an beautifully unrefined!
