New York Indie collective Monotronic was formed back in 2016 yet they are still sounding as fresh as ever and they are certainly one to discover this year. Their 2024 EP 'Looking Away' is a great showcase for the joyful sounds that they produce.
The title track has a ring of Sam Fender about it, pairing a rolling riff with soaring vocals filled with an air of poignancy. 'Kids of Summer' highlights their electronic influence, adding echoed synth layers into the mix to add a fuzzy veneer to their Indie groove. The bright tones of 'Sun Song' are appropriately bright, generating uplifting melodies while 'Everybody Wants To The Rule World' brings the song to a close with a slick rendition of the 80s classic.
Another highlight in their discography is the shuffling single 'Buy Yourself A Dream' which bounces along with a fun, Indie-Folk energy. The vocals have a velvety tones and the instrumentals have a richness that brings the track to life.
Whether they're delivering uplifting Indie hits or absorbing you in their retro electro soundscapes, Monotronic will hook you in with their infectious chorus and bubbling energy.
