‘SATIN SATAN’ is a pretty apt title to describe the sonics of the new release from Canadian Art-Pop songwriting KROY. There’s a delicacy to the vocal delivery, delivering the lyrics with a velvety finesse that can slip you into a dream state. However, the bubbling electronic textures and slightly eery tones hint at something darker and more twisted beneath the surface.
The electronic vocal effects add to this slightly warped sound, bending some of the vocal lines in a strange Hyper-Pop style so that you get a sense that the speaker is a little more unhinged than first anticipated.
This song blends the hyper realities of acts like Chloe Moriondo with a more dreamy, modern Indie twist. A really intriguing showcase of how to convey lyrical sentiments through sonic arrangement. A great addition to your end of summer playlists.
