Having previously played in numerous Indie / Rock outfits, American songwriter Rob Spice has turned his attentions to a brand new solo project and has just released his debut single 'nothing to live for'. Although Rob is billing this release as a solo project, the sound is far from stripped back, in fact, it is the density and complexity of the instrumentation that really makes the track lift off!

The fuzzy guitar tone immediately creates a warm, nostalgic feeling of the early 00s before the full band quickly crash in with an anthemic Rock power, hitting you with swathes of sound.
The verses have a loose, slacker Indie energy that casts a feel-good summer glow yet the complex drum rhythms and wonderful guitar / bass blend of tones keeps things interesting.
Then, these short bursts of chorus energy hit wonderfully hard in contrast, shocking you awake into a heavier, Alt Rock groove juxtaposed by the crisp, high pitched melody.
The track is a fantastic exercise in tone and texture as well as simply a really enjoyable listen and a great introduction into the new Rob Spice project.
