ALBUM REVIEW: Kid Tigrrr - Stoned + Animald

American Alt songwriter Jenna Fournier AKA Kid Tigrrr has just released her debut album ‘stoned + animald’, a record that slips you into a fascinating dream world.

Reading into the album title, these dreamy soundscapes might be where the ‘stoned’ part of the name comes from. At times you feel sunken, lying in a haze while shimmering lo-fi textures swirl around you. At other times, you feel like you are floating high, drifting upon a bed of ethereal textures. Either way, lucid guitar lines and soft percussive beats entrance you from start to finish.

The ‘animald’ part of the title may refer to the lyrical content as the album explores an all manor of innate emotions, often using animal metaphors to convey the primal feelings we all feel.

Our personal highlight on the album is actually the opening track ‘Therapy’ as the dreamy sound blends with some grittier, more purposeful rhythms to create a nostalgic 90s Indie hit that uses the angelic vocals to contrast the rock guitar textures wonderfully.

A really hypnotic album that is well worth a listen!
