The New York-based rapper's 2024 EP ‘WAIL!’ lives up to its name, combining classic 90s Rap sounds with Pop hooks that create a unique and dynamic sound. Her lively appearance of red curls and a vivid street style matches this, however the focus is undoubtedly on her conversational, catchy and clever lyrics, as seen in ‘Cha Cha’.
Lyrics like “Didn’t meet on Hinge you know I met that dog on Rover” showcase her skills with wordplay and witty references, as well as droll self-awareness shown in ‘Mic Check’, “I’ll be so cringe before I’ll ever be boring”. Already having been featured on BBC Introducing, there’s little doubt that Sophie Hunter will build a name for herself in 2025.
